Your Show Lamb Feed Regimen

When your looking for a show lamb feed, you need to closely examine your feed tag. You must ensure your lamb is getting the needed nutrients to grow. We highly recommend feeding only show feeds designed for show stock.

At Southern Oregon Feed And Mineral, we are proud to offer high quality show feed designed to grow and prosper your show lamb.

Medicated

If your feed is medicated, this should be noted on the feed tag. It’s important to know if your feed is medicated as different medications can have bad interactions. Additionally, some medicated feeds could have withdrawal dates.

Please note: to feed a medicated feed, you should have a Veterinary Feed Directive.

Protein Level

Protein is the foundation of growth. If you want your lamb to grow quickly, make sure the protein level in their feed is high (19% or more). But if you are working on finishing your lamb, you may prefer to feet a lower level percentage (around 14-15%).

If you need extra protein, you can always feed high protein supplements.

Alfalfa

Lambs are ruminants, which means they have multiple stomachs, so roughage is really important to their diet. Alfalfa pellets and ground hay are not suitable substitutes, as they do not provide the correct type of fiber.

You need to be feeding alfalfa with 1.5 to 2 inches of fiber length.
